The field of application of our bismuth-based chemicals is very broad and extends from the pharmaceuticals industry via the substitution of toxic lead compounds to the electronics industry, where bismuth compounds are frequently used because of their unique properties.

Varistors
Bismuth oxide plays a key role in the production of modern electronic components. It improves the electrical properties of ceramic materials thus allowing the hitherto impossible to be achieved.

Ceramics
In the production of glass frits and ceramics, there is a growing tendency towards substituting toxic lead with bismuth. This development is being accelerated even further by the higher chemical stability of bismuth as well as its lower melting point.

Vehicle construction
For reasons of environmental compatibility, the automobile industry is increasingly tending towards drastically reducing the levels of lead compounds used in vehicles. Here too, bismuth-based systems offer a sound alternative to lead.

Cosmetics
When adding that final touch to a particular makeup, it is often bismuth that is used, for instance in eye shadow made out of bismuth oxychloride. Other cosmetics such as nail varnish and lipstick also shine out thanks to their characteristic metallic, shimmering, mother-of-pearl effect.
