MCP HEK Group

History

In 1957, the chemist Hans Emil Klie, whose initials lent our company its name, sold HEK GmbH to the MCP group.

The MCP group wanted to gain a foothold on the German market and Lubeck appeared particularly attractive due to its proximity to the port.

To begin with, HEK GmbH was primarily engaged in producing homeopathic pharmaceuticals. This branch of the company's activities was sold to the Strathmann group in 1988. At the same time, the core business in the metallurgy and chemistry sectors was consistently extended.

HEK GmbH began producing bismuth salts in 1959, achieving a sales volume of 32,000 €, which today has grown to well over 90 Mio. € million. This growth was made possible through investments totalling over 16 Mio. € million, the stage being then construction of the new facility in 1988/1989, along with the creation of additional capacity in 1999/2000.

MCP HEK Chemicals Shangyu has been founded in 2004 and is producing Bismuth Chemicals since 2007. MCP HEK Oxide has been founded in 2005 and is the distribution company for Bismuth Oxide within the HEK companies.

In the field of metallurgy, the sales volume has grown from an initial figure of 250.000 € to more than 11 Mio. € million today. The basis for this growth has been the continual expansion of our smelting plant.

The structural prerequisites for the company's further expansion have since been created.
